About Me

As a pianist, pedagogue, educator, trainer and adjudicator, Ms Ruyi has over 17 years (since 2006) of teaching and performing experience. Her teaching combines the rich traditions of the famous Hungarian and Russian School of Pianism with her own researched pedagogy approach and specialised techniques gained from her extensive studies with her teachers and masterclasses globally. Her unique insight is her uncanny ability to pinpoint, in an instant, the pianistic technique needed to re-create the music and composers’ intentions. She is motivated by the challenges teaching brings, as every student is unique and has the potential for music. Thus, an individualised approach with each student is a necessity.

Ms Ruyi is a certified MOE (Ministry of Education, Singapore) Music Instructor with a Master’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, Licentiate of Trinity College London-LTCL, Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours-Music Education (Instrumental), Associate of Trinity College in Music Theory-AMusTCL, Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Performance.

Ms Ruyi coaches and gives consultation to music teachers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia in their pursuit of a Diploma in Teaching (ATCL & LTCL) and Advance Music Theory (Grades 6-8). On the other hand, she strongly believes in real-life performance experience for her students’ music development besides solely taking exams. She encourages her students to participate in piano recitals and competitions, many of which have won gold and silver awards and even first prize with excellence nomination.
